I will take it to them and hope that they would be able to unlock it for me.  I took it to a non-Apple store and was told it is not possible to unlock.

If you still need your iPhone 4 unlocked, try the FTP shop at 227 Hau Giang Street in District 6, nearby the Binh Tay market.  They sell internet subscription and other computer related parts and devices but the guy in there name "Anh Quang" seems to know someone to unlock iPhones.  My girl friend got her iPhone unlocked earlier this year from there, but they had trouble unlocking my blackberry, which I had trouble with my password and it locked my out.  I had to use an older phone until I get it fixed.  Does any one know where to find a blackberry specialist around HCMC?

Mobifone has a few Blackbarry phones in their Can Tho branch.  You might want to check the one near you.  Their customer service team is among the best here; I am pretty sure they can help.

Why not do it yourself instead of paying money for it, with the new SAM mode it is possible to unlock your iPhone 4S by spoofing your SIM card.

Yes...I had mine done hence I suggested out of my experience...and yes it is a permanent unlocking solution.

Why I reply to this old thread is that I have ever unlocked my iPhone X by myself. So I want to share with you all. There are three proven methods to unlock iPhone. One is using iTunes if you have synced iPhone with it. Even if your iPhone is not synced with iTunes, you just set it into recovery mode before restoring with iTunes. Two is using iCloud. This method asks you to enable Find My iPhone and remember Apple ID related to the iPhone. If the two ways fail to work, you can apply Joyoshare iPasscode Unlocker to unlock without challenge.
