Good Places live around the KAFD?

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the area around the new King Abdullah Financial District is like, if there are any good areas to live in near there (Westerner friendly).

Hopefully an area with other youngish (<40 year old) professionals, but not too expensive. Looking to save money, with hopefully a simple 1-bedroom/studio apartment or to share an apartment with someone.

How easy is it to commute across the city for work? Is it normal to commute across or do people live near their work?
