Hi All,

I am a British citizen and married my South African Husband in March. I have been to South africa house to ask about supporting documents for my application to move to South Africa with him.

I have been told that I need:
Marriage Certificate
Police clearance certificate
Radiological Report
Medical Report
My passport
My husbands passport and ID book
A letter of support from my husband
His/My bank statements from the past 3 months

I hope this is right!!!

I also plan to work in SA and have 5 years experience as a Retail manager, I have applied for jobs and have been told that my experience is excellent which is encouraging. My question's are this:

Do I just need to get a letter of employment offer, is that enough to apply for a work permit or do I need other supporting documents?

I don't have relevant qualifications to be a retail manager so can I just prove that I have had the relevant experience? (I have also lost my GCSE certificates!!)

Do they need to provide proof that an SA Citizen could not do the job or is the fact I am married to an SA citizen enough?

Please can someone help?

Armand

Hi! You mentioned correctly all the documents you need to provide to the embassy.
But! You don't apply for a work permit, you apply for a spousal permit since you're married to a SA citizen. The best way to do is to apply for a spousal permit with the work endorsement at the same time so you'll need a letter of employment from your future employer (that must be enough since you're a spousal of a citizen of SA).
Hope this helps.

Hi.

You must not forget prove of cohabitation. (or maybe you don’t need that since you are married, do check that)

It is correct what concordira wrote, I would just like to elaborate, for the work endorsement you need a:
Official job offer, signed with a real signature by the employer.
A copy of the job advertisement from the media where you found it.
A job description/breakdown, what are you going to be doing, how much are you going earn, who do you report to, etc.
Also remember, the endorsement does only apply for that job, if you find another job, you will need to get an endorsement for that job.
