Fake city maps in Bangalore?

Hello everyone,

I'm a freelance journalist based in Bangalore. I'm doing a story on the bootleg (fake) maps sold by hawkers to tourists on the streets of Bangalore. The sellers are usually walking up and down MG and Brigade road.

I'm looking to interview people who have bought one of these maps either recently or in the past. I recently purchased one myself ( a self-published map) and found lots of errors, however, perhaps others find them useful. Hello Jessica,

I agree with you completely. The maps sold to tourists on the MG road - Brigade road junction and around is totally fake with hell lots of errors. Names are wrong - u can take it as printing error but then the roads or narrow bylanes and their names are wrong, some important landmarks are misplaced. I had purchased them 3yrs back when i was new to bangalore so that i can drive around smoothly in bangalore but then i found out asking people for directions is much better than refering to these maps which you find for dirt cheap on the road.
