Hi, I really hope someone in this forum can help me or give me some suggestions about my situation.

I've short listed 2 international schools for my son (currently he is in form 2) in a private school.  The schools that I've short list is Sri KDU International and Sunway international school. Sri KDU is offering my son to attend year 10 in Sept 2014 where else he will be going to year 9 in Jan 2015 if he takes up Sunway International school offer.

My concern is can one skip year 9? ( my son is in form 2 which equivalent to year 8 in international school). Base on his age (turning 14 in August) the school insisted to put him in year 10.  I'm worried that he can't coped as he is just an average student , anyone have any comment about Sunway International school or had send your kid to SIS? We have intention to send him to Canada for his degree, therefore our first choice is SIS.

Can anyone give some comparison about these 2  schools beside these school have different syllabus / curriculum?

Thank you in advance for your value advices and have a nice day☺️

Hi,

If you want to send your son to Canada for his degree, I suggest that you go for International Baccalaureate (IB World School). Fairview International School is actually offering 3 IB programmes from Primary, Middle year, and Diploma.

IB programmes are recognized around the world and ensure and increased adaptability and mobility for IB students. The curriculum and pedagogy of IB programmes focus on international perspectives of learning and teaching, while insisting that students fully explore their home culture and language. IB World Schools must undergo an exhaustive authorization process in order to offer one or more of the programmes, which includes a study of the schools resources and commitment to the IB mission and philosophy. IB teachers participate in a wide variety of professional development opportunities to constantly update their knowledge and share their expertise with colleagues around the world. Many students graduating from the Diploma Programme find that it enhances their opportunities at tertiary institutions. The IB works closely with universities around the world to gain recognition for IB programmes. The core components of IB programmes encourage students to participate in creative and service-oriented activities, while at the same time emphasizing the importance of reflection on a personal and academic level.

You may click here for more information about International Baccalaureate programme

Thanks you so much Jinggaratna for the informative reply.

Fair view international school in Subang or Kuala Lumpur both are out of the way, but will keep in mind.

Cheers,

Caveat Emptor.   Many so-called international schools in Kuala Lumpur exist primarily to make money. There is no guarantee of quality. The only things that will be guaranteed is that as a parent you will be lied to and that you will pay an exorbitant amount of money with no recourse should the school be less than  profesisional.

Buyer Beware
