overseas debt?

Post new topic

FXF

hey i am in a debate with a friend. she says that your debt does not follow you overseas, as in you will have good credit and not be expected to pay U.S. debt if you move to say... Europe, UK, Australia.. etc...

i assume that your debt does follow you?

please help to clear this up! ty in advance!

It will follow you, because if you want to go back home even after ten years, you no longer have any standing credit score and continune to have collection agencies chasing after you when you return.
Wouldn't it be a criminal offence, and truly dishonest, to dump ones debts behind and just disappear? Does Europe, Australia, etc., really need immigrants like this?

no clue. probably not. they wouldn't be very responsible immigrants, now would they?

i've still not found any info on it, and the debate has sort of fizzled.. as time will do.. but the question was, if a problematic credit score/debt would affect a person in a foreign country after they moved there.

it goes without saying that it certainly wouldn't disappear in the country of which they originated.

thx!
