For a single man to live in one of teh middle class suburbs in Auckland? Is there a communial system taht South african have set up?

We want to have my husband go over first to ensure that he can arrange everything nicely for us. S oin the begining he will need to sav emoney. I was wondering which would be the safest most cost effective place to stay? Or if there is house share and stuff like that in Auckland?
