A community of global citizens

I was born in Mexico, raised in Brussels & Venezuela and currently live in Canada.  From my experience as an expatriate, I've been blogging about the concept of Global Culture, trying to figure out what role we migrants play in this, our hyper-connected, flattened world.

I believe there is a lot of value in a community such as this one, where people with the privilege of global knowledge can exchange ideas.   I've discussed this in more detail in the post http://global-culture.org/blog/2007/03/ … -citizens/.   

It is clear to me that many of the social structures on which the world depends today are evolving to dilute the authority given by traditional institutions that work within the boundaries of any particular nation. We should expect new groups to appear that inherit the role of those institutions but act in a global context. Knowing who are the people better prepared to assume these roles is a valuable task that we must pursue as a society.
