Waiting for the Wet season. A short epic adventure in progress...

Post new topic

Okay, I live in Belize but this is not really a Belize thread.

This is about weather, seasons and nature.

Most tropical areas have a Wet and Dry season. Sure the calender will say it is Spring, Sumner,Autumn or Winter but in the tropics it is a Wet or Dry season.

So I am waiting for nature to give me signs that the Wet season is going to begin.

Hopefully through video, photos and or audio I am going to share natures signals that the long dry season is over.

If you live in a Wet/Dry season area, what season is it there?

Does nature give you signals when it is about to change seasons?

Just waiting on the rain...bring it on!

Indonesia has them.
We've just come out of the wet so it won't rain much for the next few months.
Handy because I ride a motorcycle.

Just sand mainly here.. The week starts off clear and sunny then as it gets towards the end of the week the dust finds its way here.

Rain here - well probably about 5 days in the whole year, thats it.
But when it rains it will rain heavy.. :proud

Technically summer is the wet season here - there's 10 times as much as winter, but it always seems to be the wet season.  It can and will rain any time.  I don't think we have a dry season.

All right now.

Been super busy visiting the USA and seeing family and friends.

The rainy season did start in Belize.

Now about that epic adventure in progress...

It is coming in video that was recorded by me waiting for nature to tell me the exact day that the rainy season started in Belize. I left for the US early the next day.

I should have all this nonsense uploaded and explained soon. I have a personal photo and video site and coming,

I missed yall...;)

The Epic advente

Okay this is it! The long awaited and much delayed wet season epic nonsense is about to begin.

Got 5 or so minutes to kill?

In the first few photos it was a long strange dry season. When it has been real dry for over a month you can always tell it is going to rain becase the monkeys get on the tops of the trees.

Monkeys dig rain, and if the monkeys are high in the trees and howling there is going to be rain.

Now I thought this was the wet season but in fact the first few photos and videos are the iguana rains. That is what the locals call them. In the dry season it is hot and dry. The iguanas cannot dig through dry hard ground to bury her eggs, so nature breaks the dry season with the iguana rains. 3 to 5 days of constant rain.

Then it stops and the monkeys make a different howl.It will be dry and hot for about 10 days to a few weeks.

It took lots longer for nature to get on my schedule. On the night before I left the frogs started marching.

Unfortunately I had to leave early next morning to fly to the USA. So I could not get on my jungle gear and get closer and better sound of thousands of baby frogs emerge.

The last 3 videos I tried to get the sounds but them frogs are about a quarter of a mile away. Perhaps next year.

Enjoy my epic. ;)

I edited the link to see if I did it wrong. (Always possible)

This should work.

But look like most Epics this was was heavily promoted, delayed and done in a half lazy way.

It under preforms just like a real Hollywood epic. ;)
