How to update Destinations?

Post new topic

richard2022

Hello there,

I have recently added my China based blog (www.notesfromxian.com) but the city Xi'an does not show up in the China destinations, it seems that this makes it very difficult for people who want to know something about Xi'an to find it, also a search for Xi'an on the Expat google search shows no results. Is this something I need to add or should Expat.com update the destinations?

Thanks,

Richard

Welcome richard2022! :)

Your blog has been added to the Expat.com china directory.

Xi'an is one among the destinations that Expat.com should update.

Thanks,
Christine

Hi Richard,

it's not that easy to add destinations, as for each destination, we have to create a corresponding forum ... in 3 languages. We can't automatize it at the moment. At the moment, we've got something like 200 countries and 250 regions and cities on the website. I'd like to increase this figure to minimum 1,000 regions and cities by the end of the year.

Thank you for your patience,

Julien

Thanks Julien,

I must say I do not have any computer skills or knowledge but go around expecting computers to be able to do anything these days, so apologies there.

However, I do see that when you offer a destination (eg. a city, eg Beijing) it then, with one click, becomes a full page option of blogs by expats in Beijing, living in Beijing Guide, Expat Network Beijing and a Beijing forum. Now your problem at the moment, as you said, is creating all these pages to go with these links when you add one destination. That is most certainly a lot of work.

It seems however you are doing more than needs to be done, or atleast done in the short term. Your site is a compendium of Expats blogs let the blogs speak for themselves initially, the extras of forums can be added later. But first, simply add all the destinations with a one click link to the page for that destinations blogs, nothing else. If people come to this site they should be able to quickly find blogs in the area they want to go, minimum- after that comes the really hard work for you guys. It seems a shame that a whole library of blogs are at present hidden from view.

Now maybe forums and all those other network things have become more important to people and i am just too old, but this does seem a site, first and foremost, for people to share their blogs, some of the information they want should be in those blogs.

Anyway, goodluck, seems you guys have got a popular site and got yourselves some work!

Take it easy,

Richard
