Aborting Operation cost in Bahrain

Post new topic

sarfaraaz

Hi! to all,
This could be a strange question but I need to know the answer.
Since Bahrain is the only GCC country where abortion is permissible.
One residing in Saudi Arabia can easily drive there to abort.
My main concern is to know, what will be the total cost of this operation, including Hotel stay for one week (wife and 2 kids) and hospital charges (two days approx) for abortion and medicinal charges.

Because flying to India will cost approx SAR 8000/- (with return flight ticket)

Thankful and Regards to all

It will cost to you same as in SAR:8000.
But if you have any relative or friend in the kingdom ,then it will cost you around 1000SAR to 2000SAR max.
Or just simply go to any pharmacy and ask them directly in you mother tong(Hindi/Malayalam ) they have underground staff to perform these kind of emergency at really low rate :)

Ouch! What if there is any complication ? Hemorrhage ? Infection ?
Middle age is long time gone and we don't abort pregnancy with knitting needles anymore !!!
And I'm not even speaking of the psychological side of going through this that way...

Sorry Sarfaraaz, I do understand that your request must be an emergency for you but I don't really know about your request.
Maybe the best thing would be to contact a hospital to have an precise idea. That's better than being trapped here with a lot of unexpected expenses !

Wish you the best (the usual "cheers" doesn't look so good here :( )

Oh definitely be careful with that. You are talking about an abortion! You don't want to die or have any infection because of an unprofessional treatment. This is important. I would recommend doing it professionally and not with some underground people. Please, your life is ore important than anything else in life.

you can also go to womenonweb.org and they will make sure your wife gets a safe medical abortion for a max of 100 USD

Pharmacies dispense medication. They do not perform medical procedures.

There are pills you can take to abort but they will have to be prescribed by a proper doctor. I wouldn't take meds for this recommended by a pharmacist no matter what. If a fetus doesn't fully get removed from the body it can result in death for the woman.

Likewise "underground" procedures and home remedies are best avoided.

Do the right thing go to a specialist and get it done properly regardless of cost.

As far as I know, abortion in Bahrain is legal only if recommended by a doctor.  Doctor's recommend it to save a patient's life.  In any other situation, it is illegal.

Medical abortion i.e. using pills is only viable up to 12 weeks pregnant.  Beyond that, it is dangerous to use.  There are two medicines that are taken which are Mifepristone and misoprostol.  Mifepristone is not legally available in Bahrain and hence cannot even be prescribed by doctors. Misoprostol is available and it's primary use is to treat stomach ulcers.  However, with the potential of abuse, it is NOT available over the counter and all pharmacists will ask for prescriptions. Abortions performed with just misprosotol are successful 85-90% of the time depending on the time elapsed.

The womenonweb.org site provides the medicines with instructions for a token donation.  However, the medicines may not arrive in Bahrain and could be stopped at customs.  This is what happened to another friend of mine.

There are dangers and complications with the above approach so I would not recommend it.  Go through a doctor in your home country.

Hi guys,

We need help, a friend of mine is 5-6weeks pregnant.  Then, the man who did this to her was nowhere now,  no longer in Bahrain.  My friend wants to abort the baby coz she doesn't know what to do and it's a big problem for her also as she's new here in Bahrain.

Hope you can help us pls.

Hi, I think I covered it all in the thread.  It is illegal in Bahrain unless done by a doctor for a medical reason and the medicines that you can take for it i.e. cytotec (misoprostol), you cannot get without a prescription and besides it is dangerous to self prescribe this.  Also remember that if you or your friend somehow manage to get and take the medicine; and some medical complication happens and you have to go to the hospital; they will see that it is an abortion attempt and charge you under the law for trying to do it yourself.

I would suggest to ask your friend to go to her home country to get this done.

Such cases are best handled by a doctor. Bahrain law permits abortion only in certain circumstances, such as if the life of the mother is in danger. Unplanned pregnancies are not a valid reason for abortion here.

Do not attempt to abort without medical help. Its illegal and, more importantly, not safe.

I too agree with XTang's suggestions. Your friend should think of going back to their home country and having this attended to there.

Please read the thread - your questions will be answered.  But short answer, it is not possible in GCC except if there are complications in the pregnancy and abortion must be done to save the life of the mother.  And if you are not married; after that, there are serious consequences.

I would suggest you to go back to your home country or another one nearby which would allow you to have this done.
