Can't help with any of the 'pay' questions, but we've had great experiences with St. James (which includes emergency surgery for a dislocated shoulder, eye surgery, mammogram, annual check up, etc).  St James is a private hospital so I believe treatments there are not covered by the government (except at times there are agreements made to alleviate the waits at Mater Dei).  The staff I've dealt with have all be very professional and also friendly.

I usually see a mix of expats and Maltese at St. James.

Hope that helps a little.

Mainly private customers - many emergency visits by visitors to the island - and through experience of family here - an excellent hospital service second to none...5 stars from me and my family.

Hi Linda,

the St. James Hospital has a very good reputation here in Malta. We use it ourselves for private specialist treatment when neccessary. Service has always been good at a reasonable price.

I can only presume that the salary paid for a registered nurse will be similar or slightly more than working at a state hospital, depending on experience.

That is around 14.000 €/year. So ask for more, depending on your personal experience.

Cheers

Hi Radomir,

welcome to the forum. It would have been better to start a new thread with your post.

From your profile it appears that you are both Serbian? If so, you would both need work permits that will take work market conditions into consideration.

Both professions are highly regulated and deal with the Maltese public who speak Maltese. That could be a problem.

There is a real abundence of pharmacies and pharmacists in Malta so the job chances for a non-EU pharmacist could be difficult. But I can ask a pharmacist I know about the present situation if you want.

A doctors pay in Malta is good compared to standard income but not good enough to stop many Maltese doctors from moving abroad, in particular to the UK. That might mean there are job opportunities in Malta. You should contact the Maltese doctors association or send your CV to one of the job agencies. There are state run hospitals but also private hospitals in Malta.

Are you a specialised doctor? That could increase your chances a lot.

I wish you luck with your plans.

Cheers
