What would be better "Ireland or England"???

Post new topic

nuriafc

Dear friends, I have an important doubt and I need your help :(.
Currently I'm living in Malta, I came here six months ago to improve my English, I love this country but, to be honest, I'm stuck, because I have a lot of Spanish and Malteses friends (who speak in English more or less well but the accent and the grammar are not so good) and I can't practise either. That's why I'm thinking in moving to Ireland or England in August. I'd prefer going to Ireland cause everybody have told me Irish people are so friendly and their English is quite good but, on the other hand, I have to think about the ecomomic situtation there because I need find a job. Other people have told me in England it's so difficult getting a job because they don't like taking Spanish people on and daily life is more expensive there.
Regarding to yours own experiences, which place do you think would be better?

Thanks a lot. See you wherever I'll go.
:P

Hi

I can give you an advice : go to Ireland because it is quite a young country with more oppurtunities.

In England, there is too much concurrency and employers do not take people so easily.

Hi Eric, thanks a lot for your advice. I'm a bit lost and don't know what to do.:/

If you want to learn English, don't go to Scotland.

Why should he not go to scotland
I'm born and bread in scotland and i speak english.
Scotland is a great country to live, rich in history and if you go up north you will hear the other traditional lanuages

Namely, me.

I respond with a vicious raspberry.

My family was part of the Chattan Confederation.

I would also promote Scotland as I have strong Scottish heritage, there's even a town carrying my surname. However if pressed on making a choice between England or Ireland, I am likely to choose Ireland as I love drinking Guinness and enjoy the Irish people a lot more. Scotland is indeed a beautiful part of the world though.....

dwdwi

heyyy i vote for England :D

haggishunter

I would say Scotland. Edinburgh has just had the millatery tattoo and the festival.

Irish people speak excellent English, some of the greatest English writers are Irish (James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, WB Yeats). My brother found when he worked in England that they were impatient when it came to foreign accents, especially on the phone. And yes Irish people are very friendly. Oh and don't rule out Northern Ireland either. It is in the UK but it's just as down-to-earth as the republic. :)
