Improving my Arabic

Post new topic

JCairo

Hi, I am facing the problem of not being able to really improve my Arabic, as almost all of my Egyptian friends are fluent in either French or English. When I try to speak Arabic with them its more like a game that lasts a few minutes and then we switch back to English. I guess Im not an isolated case and was wondering if anyone had any success overcoming this problem?

Meet someone for language exchange, teach him/her your language in return speak Arabic with them. Try to find someone with beginner-level English.

I did this for almost years now, 1 hour Arabic and 1 hour German. and this how it works.

U've 1st determine where really the problem is!
If it's ur problem as u cannot go on with Arabic in long conversations, U know that u know this sentence in Arabic but instead u say it in English...
then it's matter of time, u only need to tell your mind "i'm forced to speak Arabic" and ur friends can help you in that if u asked them, but don't ask them to speak MSA cuz then they will feel uncomfortable and will return back to English.

If it's U're friends problem, some ppl have that character of over controlling any discussion they have, so u may pick up other friends to exchange the language (without studying)

Hi JCairo,
From my point of View, we are facing the same problem which is the matter of practice, and  afraid of say to say some thing wrong.. so we can arrange a meeting per a week and choose a part of move or a book you going to summarized it to me by Arabic and vice versa, so by this way can practices ....
Pls let me know your comment.
Thanks
