I've recently received a bank statement from Barbados to my home in England and on the statement it read that I have been charged 'Stamp Duty' what is that charge for? I've looked at various leaflets I have picked up from the bank and there is nothing in there to state what Stamp Duty is?? Can anyone help??

Hi,
Do you bank with RBC ?

SeaSun

I believe that is the actual stamp they have attached to your statement.  They do that a lot here in Barbados for receipts.  I believe all receipts require a stamp.

I deposited money in the form of a foreign currency check, and they added a stamp to my receipt and charged me for it. I have deposited local currency, and have never received a stamp. I am sure that there are laws to govern the use of the stamp, but I have not researched the issue.
