I do miss my vodka :(

here's a profound statement for you:

any Western expat can easily score booze at their embassy, so i am told - the only problem is when they wish to consume it within the confines of their domicile.

now yes, this post was started as a jest but it carries true connotations - alcohol is illegal, consume it outside/ carry it outside/ transport it outside of an embassy and you put yourself in an embarrassing position and risk deportation.

that being said, several people enjoy a glass of wine with a fine mean to complete the fine-dining experience - to you i say Dubai is always welcoming, at least currently, since the death of the royal prince there have been rumors of a soon-to-come crackdown/ban on alcohol in the Emirate. not that i would put much stock in that; Sharjah is supposedly the "strictest" in terms of alcohol ban, however their airport is riddled with booze.

those that want to play it safe; follow the advice of maldakany. others, you have options; enjoy ;)
