How do expats go about insuring there belonging while in Libya.
We will have items such as camera, laptop, games console, dvd player etc.

Home contents insurance?

Many insurers will decline to quote for non UK locations. You'll probably need to go to a broker who specializes in such policies.

Yeh it would have been for home contents insurance. Do you have your items insured there or just take the risk

We take the risk ourselves...

Having looked at some policies, there were so many clauses in the small print that making a claim was next to impossible. That was a few years ago mind, and things may have changed since then. Worth looking into if you have anything of value, but I would ask myself if I really wanted to bring something of value to a place like this in the first place.
