New to the board

Hi everyone,

I am a British-born Palestinian that is more British than Palestinian and, fortunately, I have a long-since-expired Jordanian passport which I am now motivated to renew.

I've been living in Sharjah (UAE) since 2005 but I feel that the UAE is not a place where my vision for life and the tuition/coaching/mentoring of my kids can be achieved.

I came to Jordan for the first time in 16 years during June and I really liked it and I am very seriously considering moving to Jordan with my family and, to that effect, we plan on coming to Jordan for a month from August 24th.

And so, I thought to join the board to network with expats in Jordan in the hope that I can tap into your kind advice.

See you around.

Thanks for the welcome :)

Tell me about dog-eat-dog.

I was in Jordan for June and I was staying at a friend's house the whole time. Although my hosts volunteered to do my (clothes) washing, I preferred to send it out to dry cleaners.

The first one I tried return my clothes as though they were just soaked and ironed. They smelled as though they hadn't been washed and they still had simple marks on them (like pen marks and collar marks).

I ended up trying around 5 different cleaners and the result was identical.

I finally gave up and decided to hand-wash my clothes.

The one piece of advice I received from people whilst I was there was not to believe anyone when doing business with people. I guess they're right!

Nevertheless, like you said, I feel as though destiny is calling me to Jordan :) And I think I'm going to love it :)
