Hi,

Do we need birth and marriage certificate for applying the resident permit in Belgium? If yes, is translation of certificates in English is permitted?

Completely dependent upon the official you will deal with on the day. I can't see the need for birth certificates if all details are in your passports. Yes you need a marriage certificate if you are planning on living together. Whether you are asked for the marriage certificate to be translated into French or Dutch as strictly required will dependent on the official dealing, you cannot know until you register. Be prepared to have to translate documents from the original language into French or Dutch, embassies will have details of certified translators.

You must ask these questions to whichever gemeente / commune you are applying for residency through.
