cost of living

Post new topic

Could you give me your thoughts on how much it costs to live in Riyadh if you do not do much personal shopping.

living expenses, food, transportation...ect

my school will be picking me up and taking me to and from work.

I hear food is expensive, how expensive?

Thank you

Does anyone know an average price for a gym membership?
Thanks again

Hi, the cost of living is low compared to Europe; however accommodation can get expensive in a western compound, but you have free access to a swimming pool, gym and shop etc;
food in general is very cheap, as well as the costs for taxis (I would recommend not to travel alone as female);
I this helps a bit, all the best

Yes, that helps.  Someone had said the food is very expensive and I  had heard that it was fairly inexpensive.  I wanted to get other opinions.  I have looked into it a bit more online also.  Thanks for your response!

you can live on literally 10 USD a day

i do most of the time lol.

Wow, that is wonderful.  I would love to save a lot of money.  I guess it is the best place to do it.  I really can't get into too much trouble...LOL

If you buying U.S products (like A1 sauce, Splenda sugar, Donut Donuts coffee...etc) it would be off-course a little more expensive than what would you find in Walmart. Local products are fairly cheap, and you wouldn't have to pay purchase taxes as there is no such thing here :-). As a woman, you wouldn't enjoy the cheap gas price as women are not allowed to drive, put you would feel the impact of it in transportation fair in general.

I would agree with what Aalnass said about buying US brands, if you look for the things you get at home eating can be expensive. If you go for the more local brands it is much cheaper than at home, it is certain,y cheaper for us here than in Ireland.

I am not sure about gym costs as I live in a compound now. When I lived outside I do remember them being expensive but there are more open now than two years ago so competition is good for price. Most will be men only, I know there are ladies gyms but I know little or nothing about them.
