Cost of Living in Dubai

Post new topic

Hi,

I have just got a job offer in Dubai and would want to know a couple of things.

A brief about myself.
I have a family of my wife and a son who is 5 mts old. I plan to call them too once I settle in Dubai. We are not very fond of outside food, we would surely want to go to all the beautiful places in Dubai. We have a average style of living in Mumbai - India.

1. What is the status on accomodation? Can I pay rent on a monthly basis or do I need to pay a yearly lumpsum amt.

2. What are the things you think I need to carry when I come to dubai for the first time?

3. What are other exps that I need to be aware of?

4. What is the package that you think I would be comfortable with ?

Request if you could help me with the above.
Thanks a lot for all your support.

Warm Regards

Arvind

Hi,

I have been doing some investigation into "Cost of Living" in Dubai:

(1)- A decent 3 bed Apartment to rent will be AED 150,000 per year altough you can buy  2 bed villa "off plan" for AED 850,000 in Sharjah. Rents could be 50% less in Sharjah, but expect traffic jams

(2)- Education is approx AED 5000 per year

(3)- Medical Insurance for 3 people (2 adults & 1 child under 10)  under the age of 40 is AED 14500 / year

(4)- Medium size car such as Mondeo or Renault Laguna will cost AED 70,000

(5)- Manuicipality Tax is 5% of the value of the property per year

(6)- food cost (such as grocery etc) will be around 1500 AED per month

(7)- GAS, Water, Electric would be around AED 500 per month

I hope this gives you some idea of cost of living
