Hello to everyone on this Malaysian forum! I would like to introdeuse myself here. I am Marco and im 26 years old from Holland. I am married in malaysia with a malaysian woman and I have one son with her.

I am just graduated and im looking for a job as a Graphic designer / Multimedia designer.

My main goal right now is to permanently move to Malaysia and live there together with my wife and son. I am still doubting what is the best and fastest visa to apply for me. I already posted a question about this in the visa section. Hope someone could help me or advice me. thanks a lot! and I hope to have many nice talks here.

Grtz Marco

Welcome abroad!

My husband who is also from Netherlands came to Malaysia 3 years ago and we have  a son now..

Firstly, he came with Tourist visa, which immigration gave 3 months for visa on arrival. From here (or within 3 months before  tourist visa expired) , we applied for spouse visa (cum working visa) and it was approved within 3 weeks.

If you want to find details (perhaps he also could share his experience on the visa stuff, work permit, life in Malaysia with Malaysian woman and Malaysian, etc..), send me a Private message.. or at poyengmas@live.com.my and I could always ask him to reply to you..

It is always good to have some friends along (for him also) and keep-up with "Holland" ..

Hello Marco.

Welcome to Expat.com! :)

Concerning the job, the Jobs in Malaysia section might help. You can post an advert there.

Thank you,
Aurélie

Thank for the positive reply everyone! I feel very welcome here.
Mrs de Rijk I would love to contact you and your husband about this matter since it could be very useful to learn from the both of you. I am still concerned of what papers I need to prepare in Holland and how I could get a single entry visa to enter Malaysia with a one way ticket. I will mail you about it later.
And thank for the tip Aurelie, but I am already sure of a job in Malaysia and im also thinking of doing freelance design work there!

Sue Anne

Where u gonna work ? Im in the same industry too~

marcodegroen

Hello Sue Anne, im planning to work in Kluang or Kuala Lumpur off course! hehe you got a portfolio? interested to see it

Sue Anne

Hey marco, i think working in KL is better than in Kluang if ur doing design and multimedia. Kluang is more like a small town which i don't think they have any design house or agency or production house. U can consider KL and PJ. haha Well Im working in Grey Worldwide, u can google about it.
And also how can i share u my porfolio ?  by email ? haha I would like to see urs too~ hahah

marcodegroen

Hi Sue, well I would like to work in Kluang since it is a city where I have not much competition yet. I want to try and build up something there. I can always go to JB or maybe KL. But for now I will try Kluang first. [Moderated]
