This is a tricky road to access, unless you know it, from the Ha Noi Highway.

Take the Thu Thiem Tunnel and follow the new international style highway until you see Ha Noi Highway 1B.

It is a left turn. As usual the road planners have done a wonderful job of messing up this intersection but basically you cross the centre (car) lanes, go over the ramp (in the motorcycle lane) and carefully hug the kerb lane on the 1B for a kilometre. Thao Dien appears to be a side road.

The An Phu gated compound is on the road.

An alternate route is to go to Quan Binh Thanh, hang a left on the Dien Bien Phu mulch-lane highway (going to 12 lanes soon).

Continue until you cross the Cau SaiGon (Bridge) and continue straight on. About a kilometre on you will see a traffic light controlled U-turn lane,

Do the U-turn, and about 100 yards along Thao Dien is off to the right.

Hard to find even with GPS.

Use www.Diadiem,com to get a map, load Thao Dien in to the search field and you will see where it is.

If you want to test your Vietnamese, try the many stores showing when you use google "Đồng hồ theo dõi nhịp tim"

I would recommend you to consider using your iPhone/android phone as a heart rate monitor using Digifit technology: cheaper solution and one less gadget to drag around

Work great under with iPhone. Many possible solutions. Not sure where you can buy here. I bought my adapter in the US.

Thanks for the response to my post for a heart rate monitor.

Checked out the models available at the cycle shop but they were too advanced for my needs.

OMRON make a basic model but for some reason it is not available in Vietnam.

Tried online at Amazon but they do not send such items to Vietnam
because it falls into the "small electronic item" section. They will not send such items to Vietnam for reasons unknown.

Managed to locate a company in the UK called Wiggle who were willing to ship to Vietnam.

Paid extra for EMS shipping so I could track the shipment and it arrived in Vietnam 5 days after I placed the order.

Held in VN Customs for close to two weeks and after I paid the 100% import tax it was delivered.

Thanks to all who responded to my post

If you have an Iphone or android there is an app for it. It works pretty well just search for it.

Most everything privately imported seems to have a single duty rate of 100%, guess it's hard to go wrong that way.

When I used an Agent to import electronic components the rate when from 100% down to under 10%. You have to find the rate code and then Customs gets off it's backside. After the first time paying the Agent, I did subsequent shipments myself. But the waiting and the paperwork!!!!

The other way is to appeal their rating, which actually gets them to poke at their computer keyboards.

VietNam is regarded by many American, and other, companies as a risky place to do business as there has been so much fraud here in the past. Only businesses such as hotels, where they get to actually see and hold your ID, accept plastic without question. Apple always used to decline VN orders until recently.
