Apartment rental in Langen for dummies?

Hi, is there an apartment rental for dummies topic with respect to area of Langen (Hessen)?

I've stumbled upon only one web site, but most of the adverts are from agencies and their commission is outrageous I think for what you get for that (only to perhaps show you the apartment). If you know of a web site with posts from owners directly for rent, please advise. Any suggestions of the local news paper or web sites to find an apartment would be highly appreciated.

In addition, how is the opening of an internet account, time frames, costs, etc.?
Thanks in advance for tips, ideas, suggestions, shared experiences.

a few suggestions:

http://www.wohnungsboerse.net/http://www.immoforless.de/http://www.immobilienscout24.de/ (choose provisionsfrei in Ausstattung/Sonstiges)
http://www.null-provision.de/

for internet: you can get a landline + internet bundle, with free landline to landline calls and internet flat rate with 16 Mbit/s for about 30€ per month. it may take a few weeks, but you can always get a surf stick for the beginning.

Hi Vroni, many thanks for the reply!

The last web site you provided, does not have any avail in Langen. The 3rd one is one that I've had in mind in post. Where did you see to select provisionsfrei in Ausstattung?

The other two web sites, one of them is rather an all over the world and the other one I did not see any rentals for Langen.

Your info is very helpful for me. And I thank you very much! !!

When you get to the result list you can restrict your requirements further (Wohnungstyp, Ausstattung, Objektart, Heizungsart). Provisionsfrei is the first option in Ausstattung.

Have you considered Darmstadt, Offenbach or Frankfurt? They are bigger than Langen and it might be easier to find apartments that don't requiere commission. Rent might be more expensive though.

Thanks Vroni!!!! No, I didn't think of those other cities. I would ideally like to live in Langen. That is I am first looking at that area. Of course, if I do not locate something, I will expand as you suggested. Thanks a lot for all suggestions. Bring them further on if you remember some other, especially about apartment rentals. !!!!
