Hi everyone. I`m a newbie here. Am very interested in moving to Belize and would appreciate any words of wisdom on how much it would cost to live comfortably, safest areas, etc. I have 2 dogs to bring and would like to know best way to arrange for them. Also, I know of someone who moved there many years ago and would like to connect.  Does anyone have a suggestion on how best to track down. Many thanks :)

It is pretty simple to move your dogs to Belize.  Get the necessary forms from BAHA (Belize Argicultural and Health Administration).  I think we printed ours from their website. You will need a vet, and shots.  The trick is getting an airline that will transport them unless you plan to drive.  I have no idea how you get them through Mexico.  We flew our two dogs down on Continental and had no problems.  There was a "suprise" fee at Customs (I think less than $100US) that we had somehow missed.(Yes, it was a real fee). You do not get a lot of the "special fees" in Belize that you have in other countries in CA. We are in the Placencia area and there are quite a few ex-pats from Canada here.  Good luck.
