Life in Austria is great! I guess the economic climate in Austria is not as bad as Italy right now so in theory it would be easier to get a job here. But it depends on your skills I suppose!
I have found that Austrians are really friendly to foreigners (apart from civil servants!) I am learning German but have to speak English a lot of the time and everyone has been really accommodating!
