Can anyone please outline the steps involved in changing profession from technician to engineer? What is the involvement of SCE?
Recent experience would be really helpful since there have been some changes.
Regards,
J
Hi,
What you will need to do first and foremost is to get your Engineering degree ceritificate attested from your home country and get it attested from the Saudi Consulate in your home country, this can be easily done thru an attestation agency.
Once you get this done and you have the original certificate with you in Saudi Arabia, you have to proceed for the final attestation process in the ministry of interior attestation office in saudi arabia.
Now that you have completed the attestation part of your engineering degree certificate, you are good to step in to the SCE level.
for this, You will have to log on to SCE official website and make a new registration (click on Professional accredition online system).
Make sure that you provide all your correct details and you will be prompted to upload the following scan copies - (in JPG format)
1. Your Iqama copy
2. Your Engineering degree certificate copy
3. Attestations on engineering degree certificate copy.
4. Your passport copy
5. Your Engineering grade sheets/ transcript
6. Your current saudi employer's recommendation
7. COnfirmation letter signed by you.
After the completion of this registration and when you confirm to submit all these to the SCE database you will be provided with a online registration number. Note this number it is very important for your reference.
After online registration wait for 3 days and go to the SCE office in your city and provide them this online regsitration number.
If all your required data and the file copies are in place you will be asked to pay SR 1,250 and you will be given a letter of acceptance.
You have to mention to them that it is for your profession change and then they will process one more letter of acceptance which will be adressed to the Saudi Labour office and note that only copy of this will be given to you and the original will be sent directly to the labour office thru resigtered mail and the waybill number will be given to you.
Now the process at SCE office is completed.
Finally compile all your papers along with the letter of acceptance, copy of the letter to labour office and the waybill number and submit it to your HR office they will do the needful at the Labour office.
Its a tedious and one hell of a useless procedure, but we will have to go thru this as we are here and need to get our professions as per our education.
Hope this helps..All the best.. any clarification do not hesitate.

ppthelord has explained it very well. but is there anything particular you are looking for after changing the profession. what i mean to say is, if there is no much advantage, then do not bother to change. changing profession to engineer means, every 3 year you have to renewal your SCE membership.
Hi,
I followed the process and have my degree attested from all the authorities. I am not able to register on SCE website as it says my ID is not yet registered as an engineer. It says to change the profession and then apply again.
Any idea what to do?
-Jiggs
Hey Jiggs,
These crazy people have changed the website and the online registration process...Guess none of the procedures are constant in this country...Ok I checked the new website for you and here goes...Log on here http://eservices.saudieng.sa/ar/Registr … nType.aspx (Tip : If you do not know to read arabic use google chrome to translate.. surprising there is no english page for a engineering association webpage ) once you open page translate you will see a drop down box select "adoption of professional membership"
and then select engineer.. again a new arabic webpage now u know wat to do..yes.. translate and continue as mentioned above... hope this helps ...all the best buddy

I dont think so.. But some companies are changing their employees profession without certificates.. So check with your HR.
I have heard now a days non engineering and non medical professions are being changed without certificates by companies by just logging in to some mol website few clicks and done. Specially during grace period.

Bunch of thanks to all who gave valuable advice. I have *finally* got my profession changed to engineer. Folks at my company are willing to help further and saying they can now get it changed to a manager too. My question is: any use to change it to manager or its good enough as it is?
Cheers

The benefits will be based on the profession that you take.
Hi,
I have changed my profession. But I have not got the iqama with new profession printed. It's too much rush in printing iqama.
Can I apply for family visa.
Also do I have to do attention from chamber of commerce with new profession mention . I have previous letter attested with old profession.
Please advise.

As long as your information is updated in the system you can apply for the visa under your new profession. You need not get a letter with new profession attested from COC, rather the visa application once made should be printed out,s igned, stamped and attested from COC.
I went to the visa office today and the visa office said that new iqama is must.
I also wanted to know that is printing of new iqama is closed temporarily ?
Because my admin depart said me that printing of new iqama is temporarily closed and dont know when it will be open.
Please advise

The printing of new iqama is not closed permanently, only temp due to the rush in labor office and jawazat of people who want to correct their situation. It will be resumed within two weeks time hopefully when the dead line has passed and the rush dies down.
Hi,
I am working as a IT Computer Technician in one company. My profession on iqama is building electrician (Karbai mabani) and my Degree is Master of Arts in Human Resource Management.
Now my new company wants to transfer my sponsorship. after transfer they will change my profession also.
which profession is better for me to get permanent Family Visa and it should be match my IT related job and My Qualification.
If profession match my qualification then only i can do Saudi attest on my Degree certificate in my home country.
Please advice me some professions that suite.
My new company in Platinum Cat.
Thanks
Hello Sir,
My husband iqama before are labor or Amal but he is Engineer then last year he was saudization but he got released and then he was now under my iqama sponsorship. My question is if he can do now the registration for Saudi Council for Engineer and change his profession while he is under my iqama at least if he find a job anytime his iqama is already Engineer but i think one of the requirement of Ministry of Labor for change of profession is the recommendation of the employer but he still jobless up to now. Thanks

You cant have a profession as per your masters - since all professions under HR are supposedly reserved for nationals. What is your Bachelors degree and based on that you can choose some thing like - marketing specialist, operations specialist, advisor etc.

He cannot change the profession while being a Mahram under your sponsorship. He can of course register with SCE and keep all the documents ready so that when he gets a job , he can change the profession to be an engineer.
My bachelors are Bachelors of Arts in ( Sociology, Political science, Public Administration ).
My job is Computer Technician (Hardware and Networking). and My company is ready to make profession Computer Technician without certificates. through Computer Tech i can get Family VISIT visa. But if i want Permanent Family Visa then i need to submit my Degree which attested by Saudi embassy and Saudi Cultures.
If suppose i choose Computer Tech, When i send my degree certificate to my home country for Saudi Embassy and Cultures attestation they will ask Computer related Degree and Company Job contract certificate. why because my profession on iqama is Computer Tech. and it will be rejected.
My Company ready to give Job contract letter with any job profession for Attestation purpose.
In this case which professions are suitable for me. Later It should be match to my IT related Job also, because of Jawazat checking.
Thank U
Thanks for the information.
I have been an IT professional and have experience in Networking . I have all the certification like CCIE to qualify for any jobs in the field of networking. However my engineering degree is Mechanical , is this necessary to have computer science degree to have IQAMA where my profession is IT . Your degree has to match or 4 years engineer degree with experience in the field job offer should be good enough ?.

Yes it has to match with the profession you are getting in iqama. try to get generic professions like operations analyst, systems analyst , administrator ...etc so that your mechanical degree can be used. Experience in the field is not enough, the certificate has to match and 4 yr of study as engineer is required to get engineer profession.
