Will be in Guatemala this December.  Would love to meet and hang out with expats from Europe or North America.  Also Gay Guatemalans.  Be open minded, nice, sane and liberal.

Thank You.

Email me for more info.  I speak ESP and ENG fluently.  Free lessons for showing me around Antigua?  Deal.  haha

No replies?  Come on!  Someone help me out.  I don't want to be in Antigua by myself.  I'd like to have someone to hang out with.  GAY OR STRAIGHT.

There are a few gay expats here, they're pretty discreet though, perhaps like in Omaha.  Local gays area  little more flamboyant.  I'll be happy to buy you a beer and show you around Antigua if you can handle good-natured gay jokes.

Hi! I am  US expat an live in downtown Guatemala, the artsy-bohemian area. I have many gay friends, but gay life here is pretty discreet, not like in Miami or New York. However, it is much more open in Antigua and downtown Guatemala. Email me when you are here and I'd be happy to meet with you for a beer or cup of coffee, perhaps introduce you around.

Hello,

I am posting this here because I didn't see another gay section of the site.

Guatemala is not that bad for gays.  There are several gay venues in Guatemala City.  The people are mostly closeted.  The European foreigners that come here seem to be the type that is here because the machismo sexist culture pads their egos with cheap girl sex.  As such, it seems they don't know what do do with the gays.  But because its like that, I have found a stronger need for gay community here.

Just go to the sauna.

I live in Antigua with my partner.   There is a small ex-pat gay community here, mostly professionals, so you won't be totally alone.

One way to get to know folks in Antigua is a "gay night gathering the last Saturday of every month at Frida's.

If you want, I would be happy to meet up with you for a coffee sometime to get acquainted and to fill you in on the lay of the land.

Oh, Oh, Oh, please tell me, what is the "lay of the land?"  I am sure you know...  How to be a closeted prick, 101?

Well, if you are not a "professional,"  what is there?  Haha.  It's actually not mostly professionals, it just appears that way to them because they like to stay safe and stick together in rich places like fritas ($10+ for nachos?!) while the rest of the world is starving.  Since most of the money there at frita's actually goes to the straight landlords and workers, you are not really supporting anything gay, either.  Not to mention the place is still pretty closeted.  Not a gay flag in site.

What the hell is a "professional," anyway?  Professional scammers. Professional losers. Professional "I can't get laid." How much does a prostitute cost here again?  They are trying to make gay synonymous with commercialism and capitalism.  It is a secret method to bring people to capitalism, by saying you can be gay now, look at our money.  The group that meets at Fritas is a group of hi-browed, uptight,  exclusionists.  "Let's go to frita's and support her getting wealthy off the cheap labor in the area."  If you actually want to get laid, go to guate.  Or my house for that matter.

And get over yourself.

So tell me about meeting some new people in Guatemala. I am gay and will be in need of friends and someone to show me around. I want to live out around the lake I think. Maybe in Guatemala City. Do not know yet. Am open to that. Want some peace and serenity. Have lived in Houston Texas too long and just want to be at peace.
