Hello everyone, I am researching many places to retire, I still have 10 years before doing so, and if social security and some kind of pension are still around by that time-frame, I hope to have found my "Perfect Spot". I know many of you have already done just that and I will be seriously studying everything I can get my hands on about nice tropical paradises!!!
I have found Panama to be of great interest to me as well as Belize. I want to learn to sail all over again, I am an avid motorcyclist, so roads might be somewhat important to me, and very little government intervention. Of course, that might just be a pipe dream, also I love to fish, and I would love to take up diving. I am not afraid to learn a new language either. Basically, I am looking for a fairly low cost tropical paradise that will allow me to live out the rest of my life in some kind of comfort.
I don't like being too far from saltwater, I'm kind of spoiled that way, I do love mountains and think that 70-75 degrees is perfect. I would love to live in the country on around 3-5 acres to garden on, not farm. I love animals of all sorts, so that would not be a problem. My perfect scenario would be living in the mountains of a tropical paradise where the weather is cooler than on the beach, but not too far away from the beach as I love any activity having to do with water.
I am age 55 now and hope I am in fairly decent health although my doctor says I could stand to loose around 20-30 pounds so my blood pressure can go back down. As a retiree, my perfect day would be riding my bicycle from my house in the mountains down to the beach and getting on my sailboat with my dive gear for some exploring and possibly fishing all day and returning with a great dinner in time to watch the sunset with my honey at sundown and then discuss what the day had as adventures to discuss. Guess that's about it for now, as I've been banging away at this keyboard most of the day researching different places, I hope some of you will respond to me and become great friends.
