Dear all,

Due to hubby's work, we might be moving to India, living in either New Delhi or Gurgaon.

I would appreciate any tips and advice on how to go about finding a job as a doctor (work permit will be organised). I also have all these questions I hope you can help me with.

1. How much does a Senior resident (my level) earn per month, approximately?
2. Is it possible at all to get a job as a North-European trained doctor?
3. What are normal work hours?
4. Is part-time work common?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
You have asked a really professional issue of jobs.....:0 and that too about doctors. Wellll...lemme start by saying that its easy really easy to find a job in Delhi or Gurgaon as a doctor. More so, Gurgaon because I have seen a large number of really professional and modern hospitals come up all around where I stay. Gurgaon is also relatively less congested and more green than Delhi but thats only my view ...maybe because I belong to Gurgaon.....:). Even living wise Gurgaon is nowadays a much preferred destination and some of the best localities are coming up in Gurgaon....might be able to help if you need accommodation there. When r u planning to shift? Normal working hours are from 9-9.30 to 6-6.30. North European trained is not a issue at all as long as it is certified and if you have some past experience that really helps. Part time work is difficult in the normal scheme of things but since you are a doctor it should not be an issue at all. regards.

Uygen, getting a job as a doctor shouldn't be a problem but it more depends upon your specialization. Delhi anyhow is already saturated but Gurgaon being a booming city is coming up with so many multi specialty hospitals. As India has become a favoured destination for medical tourism opportunities are immense but not sure how much is the work env. for doctors different from that in your home country.
