My wife and I are planning on moving to pr in the next few months.

I do have a few questions about getting a license there.  Wht kind of documents re  required ?

Do they check your status back in the states?  i mena points dui's supensions ect?

I may have a friend coming with us that has had the problems ( family member)  and we do not want to put him in a bd situation.

thanks

Gary

You need a passport or birth certificate and your social security card.

If you don't want them to check back in the States I'd recommend to take the exam and don't even try to exchange your current license.

You also need a couple of photos and a medical exam. Around every DTOP office there are photographers and doctors offering their services.
Check out the DTOP for all details (in Spanish): http://www.dtop.gov.pr/

So they don;t check the records   at all ?  Gee here it seems they know who I am when i walk in the door !

I will relay this to my friend D and see what happens !

I can't guarantee that, of course but the chance that they don't is pretty big.
