Wanted to say 'hi' to everyone here. Finding my way about in SA and loving every moment of it. Arrived 3 days ago and wanted to know if there's anyone who's on this forum who lives in the Ballito area and would like to meet up for a drink. On me. Found the perfect bar close to my place too :) Cheers all

Hello Joe1977.

Welcome to Expat.com! :)

Can you please tell us more about Ballito?

Thank you,

I sure can, like I said, I've been here less than a week and am learning to love it. I doubt I'd have liked being in Durban proper. Ballito's not far from the King Shaka International airport (just a 15 minute drive) and the community's fantastic. There's lots to do and the people are friendly. Whether it's cycling, swimming, surfing, horse riding or just chilling, everything's close at hand over here. I'm a writer by profession and it pleased me no end to find out that there was a local writer's guild. Lots of opportunities to meet up with like minded folks is what I was told by friends before I made the move and it turned out to be accurate. I'm in love with Wimpy's btw :) Their Baconator rocks ;)The only thing I have a grouse with but it's really no big deal once you get used to it is the regular power cuts. But otherwise, Ballito is a little piece of heaven so far. Not as bad crime levels as in big cities like Joburg and their suburbs.
