Hi,

Is it possible to rent a motorycle in Hanoi for a 1 week stay? At what
cost?

Is it advisable to do so? I am a quite experienced motorcyle rider
(daily for 25 years).

Would my french driver's license be accepted? Or do I need an
international one?

Thanks in advance,

Jaitch

Neither of your licences are good here, you need a VN one.

BUT for your short stay, don't bother. Many versions of the International licence have VN language on one of the pages.

You an rent for a week, negotiate a rate. BUT be sure you buy insurance in your name AND that the rental agency gives you a copy of his insurance. The insurance is under $5. You can get it from petrol / gas stations.

If you have the two coverages, f you have an accident one of them will cover.

Since you are used to the Priorite Adroit system, you might figure out the VN driving style easily. The Vnese are one of the world's worst drivers.

The Ha Noi cops can be stiff, so drive in a sane manner and observe the traffic lights and even the signs. They have less tolerance for bad Foreign drivers as they know the can drive properly.

Bring a lock from France and buy a piece of chain here to secure your wheels - the locals an pick VN locks easily.

Motorcycle theft is high n VN especially near the Laos border.
