Well that's what I was led to believe. But my experience so far has me doubting the truth of this.

Last week I watched the Everton v Liverpool game in The Bucket in Qala. It was like a morgue. The most animated anybody got was to point at the screen and whisper "goal" when someone scored. I won't be going back.

This week I watched the Chelsea v Liverpool game at The Club House in Ghajnsielem. It wasn't much better to be honest. But I was at least reasonably happy to be drinking large bottles of Cisk for €2 :D

Now if it had been Brentford v Tranmere I may have been able to understand the general lack of interest. But these were two of the biggest games of the season. So where do I need to get my ass to in order to enjoy a little "atmosphere" ?

Hey Darkman,

Both Matches were Very Busy in Birzebbuga, Del Peiros Bar on the From and also Envy next door were both Busy and for around the same price for Beer as well..

We did start a thread about good pubs to watch football but it may have moved down a bit now.

Any tip for for watching the Spanish La Liga? I had Melita and they no longer briadcast it, neither Go... and during the Champions Legau I went to a Bar to watch Barca-Celtic and they where showing something else... :(
Personally I prefer a good screen than watching it via Internet...

From my days over there the place I always went to watch UK, Italian and Spanish games was the Black Gold Bar on Sliema Strand... Great atmosphere albeit the beer may have been a couple of cents more!

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll have to make a day of it and jump on the ferry then.

I guess you can't have peace and quiet AND rowdy pubs  :D

Both Jangles, Marsalforn
Bar at Gozo football stadium

Toon

I musty admit to having been to Bo Jangles in Marsalforn, a great pub on the right days/nights, but it was still quiet on the match day/evenings we were there...

TheDarkman

Thanks George.

Funny enough, somebody else told me about those two just five minutes ago. He also suggested that the footbll club venue was very "pro" Liverpool  :)

we did try the local footy club Xaghra United club bar on a three day visit recently and that was quite lively, with a decent set of viewing patrons.....although  not a lot of drinking being done more eating of ice cream.

My only criticism was we werent getting a full pint - the glass was full but after two pints (half bottles each served poured) I got another round in just asked for the bottles this time and the glass we had had all night was empty and ewhen we poured to full there was still near half the second bottle still in the bottle.!!!!!!!!

Yeah. I heard that as well  :D

I guess I'll just have to try a few before deciding on a regular. Won't hurt to do a bit of exploring.

Toon

of course.
