Coming to Toulouse

Post new topic

Katrinel

Hi there,
I have been living at the Côte d'Azur for the past 6-7 years with my husband and two kids. We are a bilingual family of Danish and English.
Although we have thoroughly enjoyed the glamour of the cote we have now had enough and are looking for a different kind of scene altogether.
What is important to us is to be near a good international school as both kids have enjoyed the international school of nice.
That narrows down the search to Paris, Nice, Toulouse, Bordeaux and Lyon.

My husband would like to semi retire and find a farm house, chateaux, manor, lake house etc and to "live off the land"
Yes I know it sounds like a bit of a cliche but we rather fancy a country place with either a couple of gites, olive groves, fruit orchards or all above. A place which could provide us with some income however small.

We are well aware of the setbacks but we are in quite a good position to give it a crack without any negative results having too much of a disastrous outcome.

In short we are looking for a bit of country life, a couple of projects with plenty left over time to enjoy life as well.
Hence my question
What is life like in Toulouse, and outskirts of Toulouse.
Would we be able to find the lifestyle we are looking for in Toulouse?
How good is the International school of Toulouse ?

Any other advice you feel I could do with please feel free.

Thanks for your time and perhaps in the coming months we'll see you in or around Toulouse.

:-))

Hi,

I noted your post and the list is not entirely accurate as there is a good international school at Berlanne near Morlaas which is near Pau. I mention it so that you have a another option as from your post it seems you wish to have a place with a bit of land to achieve your goals and it would be easier to find a place in the area around Pau or between there and Tarbes. It would also be much cheaper than the other areas. In the Midi Pyrenees there is a healthy ex pat community but also lots of opportunities to mix with the french. I do the markets in the area as well as Toulouse so I know lots of people.

The area also has the distinct advantage of having two airports, one at Pau and the other at Lourdes whilst Toulouse airport is only about 45 minutes away.

Just thought you might like to know.

Cheers

Monte
