Any Somali expats would be helpful :).

Thank youuu

Is your passport from Somalia?  If so, you have a reduced chance of getting a job here since they most often want teachers who have been born and lived their lives in an English speaking country.  Visas are usually restricted to US, UK, Ireland, S. Africa, Canada, Australia, NZ, etc.

Hello Allie cat,  My roots are in Somalia but my leaves in the sun and perpetual rain of London.(Sorry went off on a tangent there)
I heard there are quite a few expats who are Somali living and working in Saudi. Anyways, thank you for replying and this place looks like a lively and informative forum, expect plenty of posts from me.

Hi, there are so many Somali expats living and working in Saudi. Don't worry you won't have problems meeting Somalis here, I have been living here for 7 months now and met so many nice people.

As Miss_U said, there are many Somalis living and working here, but not as ESL teachers.  You might want to re-think that CELTA if you think that will open doors in KSA.

Miss_Unique

Alliecat  I have met a few Somali expats who have done the CELTA course and work as ESL teachers.

Fajr007

I am intrigued what do they work as in KSA?
Only because there has been an increase in Somali graduates moving to KSA lately working as ESL teachers.
Miss_U are you an ESL teacher?

Miss_Unique

There are a lot of America/Canadians of Somali decent who have moved here to work as ESL teachers. Also there have been an increase in the Brits.

I do not work as a teacher but hearing of all the free time they have I wish I was now. I work as nurse

Hi Fajr007

There are loads of Somali expats living and working In Saudi. I personally know plenty of Somalis from the UK currently working in Saudi as ESL teachers.

I'm also considering Saudi and the CELTA.

Hey!

I'm considering working in Saudi as an ESL teacher and wanted to speak to other Somali people from the UK that are now working there. How's it living and working there?

But that was my original point:  they are from the UK, so native English speakers and eligible for the visas being issued.

Hi,
I am female from UK and i am thinking about moving to Saudi as a ESL teacher. However, i'm worried about moving to Saudi as a single somali woman. Whats it like?

marian101

Hi, I'm in the same position. Did you make the move?
