Help!!! Clarify the issues occur when ravelling after the Joining date

Dear Expats,

I am looking for your help here. Actually I got a offer to work in Saudi as a consultant. My contractor started a visa(Work Permit) process. As you probably know, the visa process is getting delayed due to certificate attestation process. In my offer letter, it was mentioned I supposed to join in my company at Saudi by this 15th of January. But that is not possible since my visa process takes so much of time. I can travel only after January 15th. So can anyone here guide me whether travelling after the Joining Date mentioned in the offer letter will create any problem when entering Saudi or will it affect my Visa process(as my certificate attestation process would be completed after January 15th only) or not? Should I ask for a revised offer letter (changing the Joining Date somewhere in Feb). Please suggest me the way forward on this

:) Offer late is a valueless document as it's, in no way, related to the visa process or any of other government related matters. Once your documents are processed  and you get a visa stamped on your passport, you have to follow dates on the visa (i.e. touching down within 60 days of visa issuance date).

About your joining date, you'll be signing a contract that will be the governing document for your company related matters.

Ideally you should communicate this to your employer and notify him in writing that the visa process takes time. Offer letters are issued with specific time frames but that does not actually constitute to your work agreement. As said by Legendleads - your contract is what governs your employment start date.

But if in offer it says you have to report for work on or before a certain date and if not its going to null - then ask your employer about this clause pointing out the visa processing time and check if offer is still valid ( i am presuming it will be since they send you the visa and you are processing it)

Regards,
