Hi

I am thinking of moving back to Malta after 9yrs back in the Uk.  I lived in Malta for 6yrs beforehand and enjoyed the lifestyle but i know there has been lots of changes since i left e.g Euros, speed cameras etc However, the change for me making the move a bit more thought out is that i have an 8yr old boy...What i need some advice on is schooling? as my son is 8 and only speaks English i am apprehensive about sending him to a state school as he will not understand the lessons.  However, after reading some post i have heard that st pauls bay do the majority of their lessons in English.....However, some are done in Maltese, if so, how many? and what lessons? the other option i have is a private schooling but have been told that the cost is about 10000 Euros a term - is this right? Also, what age is primary school to? and what are the school hrs? Do they reflect the same term times as the uk?

I know this is a bombardment of questions but would really appreciate some advice xx

Hi theveeuk,

many Expats send their children to private schools.

There are lots of posts under 'schooling' with comments and opinions about the various schools and personal experiences.

With the cost per term (3 terms per year) I think you one 0 too many. Depending on the childs age and the school it could be up to but probably a lot less than 1000,- per term.

The main difference to UK schools are the much longer summer holidays.

Cheers

I must have accidentily read an extra '0' LOL
I jumped out of my skin when i saw it ! haha
1000 is more feasible.... :)
I have read the other post and they have helped me alot in regards to peoples opinions of the different private schools, experiences and so on......However, i could not find anything on the time school starts and finishes? the age they start secondary school?

Thanks so much for replying xx and correcting me on the extra nought... ;)
