My husband just got an expat assignment .  We will start working with his employer provided  relo service.  However, I wanted to get a head start on some things since I'm starting to freak out.

We will be moving with a 4th and 2nd grader. My kids like to play hockey and baseball (which I know are not prevelant in London). Are there leagues available for them ?

Since these sports are limited, are there certain areas that would be better to live so we are close?

I can't help you with hockey, but my son plays baseball in London.  There's only one youth league: londonmets.ngin.com
It's a co-ed team (as is the league), and the kids and parents currently involved are great.  The coaches are great too-- a couple from the minors in the US and Canada.  We were the National Champions this year!  I'm pretty sure that the chances of being on a National champion team in the US are pretty slim.  (Never mind that there are only about 6 teams in the country.) I'm also pretty sure that not many concession stands in the US sell sushi alongside hotdogs. (California, maybe?)

Their practice field is in Finsbury Park which is northeast London.  Probably not near where your husband will be working, or where you want to live.  But, it's not hard to get to.

We are going to play a tournament in Prague in April, which is pretty cool.

Check out britishbaseball.org for other teams.  There is a team not far out of London, but I don't remember where it is.

Bring your own gloves from the US.  It's hard to find nice ones here.  Oh, and baseball shoes, too.

Good luck with your move!  It's a huge adventure!

Thanks Grayzane....
