Budman1

A friend of ours was here for a visit and brought some for us. I hadn't had any for years. Good stuff. Anybody seen them here?

Anatta

Budman

Saw all sorts of imported salad dressings in supermarkets here. Expensive though.

Did not see much of bacon bits, but not using them, so I did not pay much attention.

One thing I don't see is the croutons. Bring bags of them from the States or elsewhere every time I go abroad. I am looking up the recipes from the internet and considering making them myself here.
Saw toasted bread bits once in a supermarket, but they are not croutons. Anyone knows where to get, pls let me know.

PS: see that you changed your avatar. In the US, you can be sued for cruelty against animals :D.

Budman1

Thanks Anatta I'll take a look at Big "C" the next time I'm there. Metro doesn't carry them. Yes changed my Avatar. Got to thinking about Wild_1 coming back and for some reason squirrels came to mind. I'll keep a look out for the croutons. BTW which stores did you see the imported dressing in?

Maximark, VGFood, Annam for sure. I recall also seeing them in Giant (D7), Coop, also the fancy foodstore in the newly opened VinCom complex in Nguyen Hue, D1, but it has been a while so I am not 100% sure.

One thing is to be cruel toward Wild_1. He begs for it. But what do the animals do to deserve it, man? :D. Squirrels and Howie? wonder what they have in common, apart from both are furry and long tails?

Budman1

Anatta notice the squirrel is drinking the Bud, if it was the PBR now that's cruelty.

Anatta

I was thinking more on the opposite line.
If you are to be cruel to the squirrel, at least let it drink the PBR, so it can get some pleasure..

Jaitch

GIANTS supermarket, halfway down on the left row of shelves. This is jsut after the meat counter stops.

Budman1

Thanks  Jaitch, wish they had a Giants here. Anatta mentioned Maximart and Coop. They are down here. I'll check them out.

Rick

Wild_1

Rick,

Now, that avatar is more fitting.  That is so you, man!

Budda,I hope you are going to eat your salad dressing like most of us, and not intend to drink it like beer, right Rick?

Wild_1

Anatta,

So, where is the party going to be at?  Regardless, you should leave the cooking to the real men, please.  Is crouton a vegetable?

Anatta

Wild_1
good to see that you are now back in Vietnam, safe and sound, just with a bigger mouth :D.

Wild_1

Listen here, Shakespeare, I will be heading to Saigon shortly.  Should I stop by your work and kick you where-the-sun-doesn't-shine?

It is Ho chi Minh City, your capitalist puppet. Get used to it. Call me on my usual number :top:

Wild_1

What ever it is that you got, Budman, it sucks.  It makes no sense.  So, either you get another toy or start hitting the language camps, buddy.

Anatta, would you please tell the man where those camps are...

Budman1

Well then how about this one:

Đó là Hồ Chí Minh, múa rối tư bản của bạn. Làm quen với nó. Hãy gọi cho tôi vào số bình thường của tôi

Phi Long

Veggy's has Ranch Salad Dressing. You get a small bottle for 83,000 VND.

Budman1

Phi Long Thanks guy, but is that Veggys or Veddys. Never heard of the place. Is it Saigon? 83,000VND ain't bad if it's the real thing. Thanks again.

Wild_1

Budman,

What is the deal with the avatar, huh?  May I remind you, sir, that nothing can change the fact that you are a red alcoholic.  Red Al that is...  And a Ranch Monster

My mistake. I meant Veggys.

I'm sure its the real thing since they specialized in imported products. I was there the other day buying hummus.

Jaitch

GIANTS SUPERMARKET has all it's condiments and sauces on aisles 11 and 12 (left side) in the second block of shelves from the front.

Information from my 'professional shopper' friend, who scans all the bigger stores in VietNam.

Phi Long

Thought about Budman again today. Okay so the small market inside Snap Cafe in Thao Dien, District 2 has "Fat Free" Ranch dressing for about 75,000 VND that's the normal larger size bottle.

Address: 32 Trần Ngọc Diện, Thảo Điền, Quận 2, Ho Chi Minh City
Phone:08 3876 4980
Hours: Monday hours 8:00 am–11:00 pm  -  See all

If you go in Snap Cafe, you'll see other shops for Childrens clothes, toys, arts and crafts, the tiny market, fresh fruits and veggies cold shop, and the actual Restaurant/Cafe with childrens playground inside. Neat place to have lunch and dinner with picnic tables around.
On Sunday, they do BBQ Western American style. I had the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wings and Baby Back ribs. For an hour there, I felt like I was not in Vietnam anymore...

Budman1

Aw yes BBQ Baby Back ribs. I bet the pork just fell off the bones. Oh well that's life in the big city. I went to Can Tho this morning and checked out Co-op and Maxi-mart. Got a no go at Co-Op, did a little better at Maxi-mart. They had French, Thousand Island and some Italian. Chill box had some new peperoni pizzas,. I picked up a few of them also. No ranch. I think the sales lady thought I was looking for a horse when I tried to describe it to her.

Wild_1

Or a water buffalo in your case.  Budman, what is it with you and avatars?  Trying to get to one hundred?

I am telling you Budman...  You are still just as red as that flag in front of your house.

Budman1

Wild_1, I just got to thinking about the good old days in the Highlands. You know what the scoreboard reads if one of them things get hit by a 5t Trac/Trailer? WB-1  TT-0. Farmer $500.00.

You can always start a new thread asking or try any of the gourmet style shops that carry western products such as Annam or Naman etc.
