Hi bobm,

Welcome to Expat.com! :)

You may have a look at the "legal services" section on the Spain business directory.

Hope you will get more info soon.

Best of luck,

Hallo, bobm,

if you've a Spainish embassy not too far from where you live, it is easier to apply residency visa (not working) and a NIE before leaving to Spain.  As such, you won't need to hire a english speaking lawyer.  My family is moving to Spain too, and we're doing all the necessary procedure in Singapore before the move.  You will find very few people speaking English and all documents are in Spanish.  Whereas back in where we are, the people at the speak Spainish Embassy speak English, they're helpful.

Beside, I believe I heard residency visa has to be apply in the country of residence.

Hope the above help.

Hi Bobm,
Sessions are organized periodically for the new comers at the city hall of you district. If you do not speak Spanish or Catalan they delegate an English speaker to translate during the session. You can ask all your questions. They will tell you what and how to do.
Good luck
