Hi,

I would like to ask if anyone can advise any good nursery/kindergarden around Gzira for my 1,5 and 4 years old children. We have not decided yet whether to put our older daughter to a public school or to keep our children together at a private kindergarden so I welcome any suggestions (public/private).

Thanks,
Jitka

Hello Victoria,

Yesterday I had a dinner with a hungarian couple. They are living in GZIRA. They have a 9 years old daughter and she is now in a private school. But they went to the St. Clare public primary in Sliema and was so impressed that they decided to choose that one over the privete school.

For the younger one it can be a problem, cause public nurseries are full and they will accept the kid only if there is a reason (for example unemployed parents etc).

Hope it helps a bit.

There are 2 daycare/nurseries in Gzira that I have heard of, but I dont have personal experience of them. One is called Happy Days and the other is Giggles.

My daughter is in Year 1 at St Clares/ Sliema Primary. She has been there since September 2012 and she is very happy there. I havent encountered any problems yet and so far I am very happy with the school too.
I dont know about all classes there, but I know that she is taught mainly in English (for now).

Hi Jitka,

we live in Gzira and so far have visited two private nurseries here (Giggles and New Ark kindergarten) . I was not impressed, but we have moved from Prague only recently and I am still comparing ( I know I should stop). If you want more details, I will send it in private message.

Today we went to see Gzira Primary School which is part of St.Clare College. Our son is going to be 5 in March so will have to start school in September, we were told that they have a place for him in the kindergarten now sif we manage to get together the paperwork and get him admitted.
You can find the contact details here ( call them, my email never got answered) or visit (every day from 8.15 am till 1.30 pm). They will give you a list (medical check, lung X-ray, birth certificate translated to English, etc), all paperwork has to be submitted to the principal in Pembroke.

Thank you all for your comments. We are going on a tour this week:) Giggles, Happy days, Newark Junior etc. I will definitely check St.Claire as a few of you are happy with the school.

Thank you.
