Corinthia announces extension to Palm City
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Intro: the Palm City extension in Janzour, some 20 kilometres from Tripoli, which will include a boutique hotel, a lagoon, an entertainment hub and over 100 apartments for sale.
The sandy roads of Tripoli, lined with thousands of cars being driven dangerously close to each other, reveal a country that is clearly still in its developing stages, similar to Malta a few decades ago.
But as soon as you enter Corinthias almost finished Palm city, you are in a different world.
Like a scene out of the film Stepford Wives, the idyllic coastal resort is now a ghost town, except for the few families that have already moved in. but by February, life will be breathed into it, turning into a five-star cosmopolitan gated community that is completely self-contained and secure, with CCTV cameras, secure entrances, a fully-fledged supermarket, a clinic and many other facilities, Whether it is a villa, a bungalow, a maisonette or an apartment, this is home away from home: for well-off businessmen who are working in Libya and want to be able to take their families with them.
Corinthia was a pioneer in Malta when it built the five-star hotel in Attard and again when it was the first international company to build a world-class hotel in Tripoli (Bab Africa). Now it is pioneering the real estate rental service in Libya.
Adjacent to Palm City, Corinthia is also developing a new complex, with a boutique hotel for Palm city guests, a lagoon, more than 100 large apartments for sale and a massive entertainment area, in attempt to take things to the next level,
Six cinemas, a bowling alley and several restaurants and shops will be added to Palm Citys existing leisure facilities, which so far include tennis courts, a seven-a-side football pitch, an indoor and outdoor pool, squash court, gym, spa, treatment rooms, dance studio and grill house on a private sandy beach.
The for-sale apartments are intended to give a chance to locals to buy into the project as well as for companies that preferred investing in real estate rather than just leasing property.
Corinthia is already bearing the fruits of its labour at Palm City, with about half of its rental units already booked for the next five years and the rest of the negotiations being concluded with several large construction, energy and travel companies.
