Cabarete Living+working

PARADISECAT

Greetings all. My name is Anthony. I live in N.Y. But love going to Puerto Plata/Sosua/cabarete.  I have been going for the last 3 years. My longest stay has been a month in Cabarete, but I would like to stay longer to see if I  would like to relocate in the near future. Any ideas on remote jobs or companies available where I could work from my computer while abroad? Any website reccommendations?  I know that local work does not pay much, not to mention working on a tourist visa would be somewhat hard. I woul appreciate any help or insight  that would help me experience and see more of this lovely island. I'm currently a licensed massage therapist at a finess company in N.Y. I have bartending experience and I'm fluent in Spanish.  My massage work is in sport therapy and I have worked on a few surfers while on vacation.

As you know local jobs do not pay well and you will have a tough time finding one that can support you.
As to jobs off site (on line) you will be able to search those at home in NY.
Before making a full time move please make sure you have a plan ($$) worked out.

Thanks for the advice Bob. I have noticed that you give really good advice on the forum, I have been reading some of your posts.  I was in Cabarete for a Month in October and managed to  provide some sport therapy for a few windsurfers and surfers, but I realize It would take me a while to build my clientelle, right now I'm trying to make some connections in that community, especially the surf schools in that area. My plans for now are more geared towards spending winters there and summer in N.Y. Just testing the waters before any relocation plans. Thanks for the advice.

Sounds like you are going about it the correct way. Let me know if I can answer any specific questions for you. We have been in the area for the last 7 years.
