Hi,

I am shifting to the iPhone 5 and would like to know how the STC 4G is like. Is there a monthly plan for prepaid users. What are the charges like.

FTTH - STC has started digging in my area for laying the fiber cables. So this should be done in 2 -3 days time. Can someone update me on how the speeds are like and the cost for the same. Will be looking at an unlimited package.

Thanks.

Let's wait for people to comment out about their performance experiences.

I had seen both the links you suggested before hand. The 4G rates as far as I understand is for data sim and in their Q&A session says I cant message from it. I was looking for a SIM to use for calling and for the internet as well.

The FTTH I was just looking for actual user feedback.

That link to the FTTH site doesn't include details about the "Verve" plans - the various options available for Fibre To The Home and the different prices.

This information used to be online but that site is no longer available.

What are the prices/options for FTTH from STC?

As far as I know, the iPhone 5 LTE (4G) was not available until a couple of days ago. It was all just advertising and scams, too bad there aren't any rules that stop such lies in advertising. The first two to launch were Zain and Mobily, and STC joined them late this week.

This page here constantly updates who provides the service (as for the iPhone 5), and STC was not on there earlier this week.

As for the services in general, Zain seems to have great offers, but the worst network coverage. I had STC for a very long time, but with horrible customer support I decided to go with Mobily, where I pay 140 a month and get 3000 minutes (Mobily network), 3000 sms (Mobily network), and 5GB of internet, plus the 140 stays in your account as credit to use for any other calls or texts.

As for the 4G LTE service on my iPhone 5, it's been great, no complaints.

Can anyone confirm if LTE is working now with STC on iphone5? I have the iphone5 and followed the instructions here saudimac.com/2013/01/how-to-enable-iphone-and-ipad-4g-lte-with-zain-mobily-and-stc/ but I never see the LTE logo  on my iphone.. Can someone tell me if it's working with their iphone with STC?

Thanks

The thing is actual 4G is not yet available with STC. They are still using 3G and advertsing as 4G. I have 4G enabled and it still shows as 3G.

Actually for some reason, LTE appeared on my iphone yesterday and i did a speed test and got 25mbps download and 12mbps upload (I was driving on madina road in Jeddah !) !! It keeps on switching between 3g and lte..

Did you try the steps mentioned in my previous post (Send the sms to 902) to activate LTE ?

johnkuriakose

I live in the Eastern province and things have not yet picked up here as far as LTE is concerned. I had gone to their branch to get it done and they assured me it is activated and still nothing. Tried the 4466 still no go

Just a note: LTE is 3.9G techinally so 4G will not appear till the pure 4G technology arrives and replaces LTE.

The speed sucks even for 3G here, however when I was in Riyadh last week I noticed that the speeds are considerably high. I have the iPhone 5 -  A1429 version. 4G is supposed to work on it.

Update: 4G is now enabled and the speed is awesome. Getting around 20Mbps Download Speed as per speedtest.net

Yeh !! I reached 24 MBps yesterday.. It's slowly starting to cover all Jeddah.. I get high reception near the local airport !
