What are the chances for a 23-year old German with Bsc.Sc. degree to get a job/ settle down in NZ ?

Also, how high is the unemployment rate right now?

Probably slim because of your lack of experience, but you won't find that out until you've spent a few thousand dollars on a temporary visa and moving costs.

Unemployment is still climbing in New Zealand. It has just hit a new 10 year high, it rose to 7.3% in December.

Compare that to its nearest neighbor and you'll see how bad the job situation is. Australia's rate fell to 5.5% in December and has been declining since June 2009.
