Ratchet_

Hi everyone,

I'm Yves (aka Ratchet_ on this board). I currently live in Belgium. I have lived 10 years in the South of France and then returned to Belgium (don't ask me why...).

I feel it's time to leave Belgium again and explore other horizons. In my previous job, I used to travel regularly to Central & West Africa (approx. 3 months/year). Unfortunately, my current job does not require traveling. And I am starting to miss it.

Today I feel I'm ready to relocate, but I am not quite sure what destination I would pick. I do have a preference for Asia in general.

Expat-blog looks like a really nice place. :) I'll be browsing the website & forum thoroughly!

All the best to everyone!

Nice to meet you Ratchet. Glad to know you are interested in Asia. How about visiting Myanmar? Feel free to ask me questions regarding the country anytime.

Benjamin V.

Hi Benjamin, it's funny you ask. My parents visited Myanmar (traveled across the country during a month) in November. They really enjoyed it.

How would you evaluate business opportunities in Myanmar?

JasfurJQ

Welcome to EB Rachet_, hey where is Clank (joke) anyway did you include Philippines? just giving you hint about Asia, see you around......:)

Ratchet_

Haha, got your joke!! :)

Definitely interested in the Philippines too. Just a matter of finding the right job. I haven't set my mind on a country in particular.

JasfurJQ

ohh are you a gamer? well set your mine in the Philippines easy to start business and for sure profit will be doubled but be sure you know what type of business you want have.....:)

Ratchet_

I used to be a gamer, although not a hardcore one, when I still had the time.

Rather than starting my own business, I'd like to find an expatriate job.

Christine

Hi Ratchet_,

welcome to Expat.com!

I invite you to choose a country and ask your questions on the forum of the country.

Thank you,
Best of luck,
Christine

Hello Ratchet_

I'm a Belgian expat wife and I completely understand. I wouldn't be able to go back to Belgium permanently. I could stay in the South of France however. We lived there (Toulouse) for 8 months and loved it: friendly people, delicious food and lovely people.

As for Asia: I only lived in Dubai for a year. Mixed feelings about that. I would consider going back but not long term.

Good luck with the search!

Ratchet_

Someone who can relate to my situation. :)

After living in the south of France for 10 years, the return to Belgium was particularly difficult.

Did you enjoy living in Dubai?

Hoaibui

Although I'm Vietnamese but I strongly recommend you take Thailand into consideration. Every expats love Thailand for its convenience and comfort. It is full of business opportunities too. Gluck.

I'm from Belgium (Kortrijk) and now living in the Philippines. Since you lived in the South of France, I assume that your French is impeccable :). For multilinguals, there are quite some jobs available. I'm working as a Dutch email support agent (however, most is English) and I have 2 pending Dutch applications.

I must say, it's not always easy to adjust. For every document you need a lot of time and you need to be in different places. When I was in Belgium, one place for all (Burgerzaken / city hall).

If you need more information about things here, let me know. You can PM me ;)

another married from my kabayan, any kids now Pedro? seems your OK already in Philippines, see you around.:)

Pedro1986

No kids yet :) my wife and I want to stabilize ourselves first. We're living in a small studio now. I wouldn't suggest any person to live so small (unless you're living alone) so definitely not my own child :) I want space for them. Next year maybe.

customade

I would only do China as a tourist.I should know.

Hi,

All the best, wherever you decide to go. I think wherever you are it's not the place but what you make it - you just have to make a go of it.

HaileyinHongKong

French is becoming more and more popular in China all the time.
