My family and I are looking at relocating to Australia and will be visiting during the month of June.  Could anyone give advice on the best place to live between Newcastle, Mackay, Brisbane, Cairns or Darwin?  Not for sure about crime, etc and would like anyone's take on the best place to settle.....we have a teenage son as well.

Thanks!!!

Aurélie

If you are looking to work in Australia, this will dictate where you live.

I take it you are aware of the vast distances between the places you are enquiring about.

Newcastle to Darwin is a 3 day drive.

Crime is ever present anywhere in Australia. Schooling differs from place to place. Darwin is hot and humid. Newcastle is cold in winter wheas all thwe other spots are hot hot hot in summer and hot in winter.

You need to do soem online searching to see what places would suit you. Perhaps come over for a holiday to see the country first hand.
