I am working on a research paper for school on the topic of American citizens living and working in Mexico. Is there anyone here that moved from the US to Mexico to work, pay less taxes or for a better living? If so I would love to ask you questions.

Devan,

There is a large body of literature about American expats who live in the Lake Chapala area (Ajijic and surrounding towns). You might get more of a response by contacting one of the organizations there that support the community. We have a fairly large community of American expats living here in the Manzanillo area, try contacting the Manzamigos. They might be able to help you get some information as well. manzamigos.com

Thanks for the information. The basis of the paper will be around US citizens that either couldn't find work in the US and immigrated to work in Mexico, basically people born in the US going to Mexico for a better life. Was it hard to find work? Why did you leave the US? What has been the biggest adjustments as far as day to day living? Pros Cons.. etc. I would love to get a large discussion going. I myself lived in Torreon for some time and returned to study. I loved my time there and plan on returning after finishing school. I am a Film major, so I have hopes of turning this topic into a documentary as well.  Thanks everyone for commenting and lets keep this conversation going.
