brazilian visa's

allan26

hey, looking for some information, cant seem to find anything on Google.

I have admitted to the federal police in Brazil that I was working  illegally, and I was told to leave the country in three days and so I left. They put a stamp on my passport.

I am just wondering how hard or easy is it to get back into the country. What do I need to do. my girlfriend is in Brazil. We together the last few four years.

Hi Allan,

Depends on what the stamp they put in your passport was.

If it was just a visa overstay fine, then that will not prevent you from returning to Brazil. You will have to pay the fine on arrival if you haven't already done so.

If the stamp was EXPULSION then you should check with the nearest Consulado-Geral do Brasil to ask them if you can re-enter Brazil.

hey william, thanks for your reply, i really want to go back in the next few weeks, maybe even next week. how can i tell the difference between EXPULSION AND OVERSTAY FINE, i do have a fine r$413.88 and its a stamp, then underneath they wrote ''NOTIFICADO A DEIXSA O PAIS NO PASZO DE TRES DIAS.

but nothing about me working illegally. thanks William

Hi Allan,

If that's all they stamped on your passport and provided your visa is still within the period of validity (or you're exempt from a visa for tourism purposes) then you will have no problem re-entering Brazil, provided that you have already paid the fine at the time you left the country; or have the CASH (in Brazilian Reais) to pay it upon your arrival. When you arrive, they will issue you a document called a GRU (Guia de Recolhemento da União) and have a Federal Police agent escort you to the bank (should be one in the airport where you arrive) and once you come back with that marked as paid your passport gets an entry stamp and you're on your way. Anything else just ask.
